The FWGC organized in 1926, with the expressed purpose:

to cultivate a broader knowledge of gardening, horticulture and design
to advocate for the protection of the environment
to support the Fort Worth Botanic Garden

Plarn Project

Environmental Advocacy Committee:  Plarn Project

What is the Plarn Project?

To reduce plastic waste while helping others, members of the community and the Fort Worth Garden Club are asked to make Plarn. Plarn is simply plastic yarn made by cutting the handles and bottom off non-recyclable plastic shopping bags, sorting them by color, and dropping them off at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden Center.  The plarn will then be delivered to community volunteers who will create sleeping mats for The Salvation Army Ministry, The Beautiful Feet Ministries, and The Net Fort Worth.
